Oftentimes, Professional Development at a school is less than rewarding and does not really provide much useful substance. This, of course, depends upon many factors–mainly the PD workshop organizers. But I must say that one company that has some truly impressive ’stuff’ : Kagan Professional Develoment, a company that I have no affiliation with. I simply worked at a school in New York City where Kagan did some workshops. My understanding of Kagan is that they offer a wide array of research based professional development; what I gained from their workshop was a host of quality activities that I could use with my Math students. These activities focused on how to organize cooperative learning so if you’re not into cooperative learning. Definitely give Kagan an A !
